Building Sustainable Communities 

Whilst we welcome changes within our communities; Heart of Houston CDC mission in building affordable housing is important to those that live in or desire to move into a community undergoing gentrification. We believe that building affordable homes in communities undergoing gentrification is a crucial process that fosters connections among people and creates infrastructures for these connections to happen.

Our heart for Houston embraces the diversity of our communities, that maintains a belief in affordable housing for those who live and desire to play an active role in bettering and developing our community without displacement, while embracing the historic and cultural pillars that make our communities unique.

By building new affordable housing developments, individual lives are improved through the construction of decent housing; the community is thereby boosted by revitalizing distressed neighborhoods, promoting social integration, and improving an area’s economic health.
